To celebrate the special weekend in golf, it is only fitting to blend the traditions of Augusta with the bold profile of a high-quality whiskey.
The "Mersey Amen Corner"—elevates the azalea flavors by swapping the traditional gin or vodka for a robust rye whiskey base.
The spiciness of the rye cuts through the sweetness of the fruit, creating a more sophisticated experience, to match the emotion and perfection we expect to see on the course.
The Mersey Amen Corner
A bold, whiskey-forward riff on the classic Azalea cocktail.
Ingredients
2 oz Mersey Recipe No.6 Rye Whiskey (for that signature spicy kick)
1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1 oz Pineapple Juice
0.5 oz Grenadine (for that iconic Masters pink hue)
2 dashes Orange Bitters
Garnish: A lemon wheel or a fresh mint sprig
Instructions
Chill: Pre-chill a rocks glass or a highball glass with ice.
Shake: Combine the Mersey Rye, lemon juice, pineapple juice, grenadine, and bitters in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Strain: Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well-chilled, then strain into your prepared glass over fresh ice.
Finish: Garnish with a lemon wheel. If you want to nod to the mint in a Julep, slap a sprig of mint and tuck it in the top for a fresh aroma.
The shot strategy:
The Mersey Rye: The pepper and oak notes of the rye stand up much better to the tart lemon and tropical pineapple than a standard spirit.
The Color: The grenadine ensures the drink still looks like the blooming azaleas that define the course.
The Vibe: It’s refreshing enough for a warm afternoon on the patio but has enough "backbone" for a serious whiskey enthusiast.
Enjoy the tournament—hopefully, the leaderboard is as exciting as the drink!
